How We Can Assist YouIAB Services is a government agency created 22 years ago to assist other government agencies. Our goal is to serve as an integral element of the continuous improvement process in the public sector. In considering IAB Services you may not know that we can be engaged immediately by NSW agencies without market testing. As we are a NSW Government Trading Enterprise, if you use us you are exempt from procurement requirements to obtain quotes or proceed to formal tender. This can save you both time and money, at the same time as giving you access to more experienced public sector specialists than any other provider. Since our creation in 1985 (as the Internal Audit Bureau of New South Wales) we have been responding to the complex and evolving demands of the public sector. Our operating name, IAB Services, was adopted some years ago to reflect the growing breadth of services required by the public sector. A graphic showing the different phases of our evolution is included in my 2007 Xmas Briefing presentation, which can be downloaded from our Homepage. Our footprint in the NSW public sector exceeds any other provider of co-sourced or outsourced internal audit, management consulting and investigation services. We also provide services to Local Councils and Commonwealth Government bodies operating in NSW or the ACT. And as the public sector continues to evolve, service-delivery partners working with government bodies also require assistance. In addition to internal audit, review and management consulting, we are positioned to assist agencies with probity reviews, managing information technology, complex accounting and taxation issues, grievance mediation, bullying/ harassment/ misconduct investigations (including forensic examinations) and more. The list continues to grow, and my 2007 Xmas Briefing presentation provides details of our extensive range of current services and the current “hot issues” for Commonwealth and NSW Government agencies, and NSW Councils. For 2008, a major emphasis is on assisting agencies with key aspects of their State Plan obligations such as measuring performance and customer satisfaction. Governance and risk management also continue to be major areas that we provide assistance in, as well as aligning audit and assurance activities to risk. Assisting agencies to manage corporate projects, including IT projects, is a significant function we can perform. This includes project assurance, in terms of project management, project governance and probity assurance. Process improvement reviews and policy development, in accounting/finance and HR, are other areas that we provide support to agencies. This can extend to providing direct support in accounting, taxation and strategic HR activities, including assistance in implementing organisational restructures. Mediation of grievances is another service that we provide as an effective way of managing disputes and containing the costs and workplace impacts of formal complaints and misconduct investigations. Even so, misconduct investigations is a service that agencies will continue to require, and our investigators possess specialised training and credentials in this complex field that leads the industry. Training, in a range of areas (such as managing misconduct, corruption prevention, managing risks and many more), can be delivered in a variety of ways, including via highly successful and cost-effect e-learning methods. Executive coaching and mentoring is also available. Technology is a key ingredient in how modern organisation function, and as such all of our services can incorporate technology aspects as required. However, in addition, there are a wide range specialised technology services that we can provide including: IT security reviews, IT systems reviews and audits, data migration planning and review, IT forensic examinations, website design (to comply with the new NSWG requirements) and the development of web portal functions that may be required. We have an array of people available at varying levels, and rates, to match your needs. We have industry leaders available to assist you in a range of very challenging areas of corporate reform. We have highly experienced public sector specialists who know how the public sector works. And we have compliance staff that can test and check the effective operation of your processes and controls. A government agency assisting other government agencies. We know the ways of the public sector, because we are part of it.
