Specialists in Public Sector Improvement

IAB Services is a NSW government trading enterprise specialising in providing a wide range of assurance and consulting services to State, Local and Commonwealth Government bodies and service-delivery partners operating within NSW and the ACT.

There is a lot happening in the public sector, and we are on the move to keep pace with these exciting directions.

We are available to support public sector agencies and their service-delivery partners to address all of the many reforms and challenges that they face, and to help them manage risks and improve performance. We work with clients all over NSW and the ACT.

Our enabling legislation designates the Treasurer as the Minister responsible for our Act, and establishes the Secretary of Treasury (or their nominee) as Chairman of our Board of Management. Our Board also includes a nominee from the principal agency in our cluster group and one independent member (from industry).

We are an approved service provider under a number of Panel Contracts (State and Commonwealth), including the Consultants Prequalification Performance and Management Services Scheme.  State Government entities also have the option to acquire any of our services without seeking 3 quotes, written quotations or formal tendering, under Section 37 of the Public Sector Management (Goods And Services) Regulation 2000.  Details of this exemption are available below.  This can allow you to move quickly, save time and money, and still obtain high quality services with a strength in public sector issues unmatched by any provider.

TENDERING EXEMPTION

Did you know that you do not have to go through a tendering process to use our services? As a government trading enterprise, we are exempt from this provision. More information about this can be found here

GUARANTEE OF SERVICE

Our Guarantee of Service outlines our commitment to providing top-quality service to our clients. If you have any questions about this please contact us.

Updates!!

  • IAB has a large collection of specialised tools available to manage misconduct, fraud and corruption risks. Refer to slides from our Reputation Management Forum for information. Slides can be downloaded from here.

  • A New South Wales PUBLIC SECTOR GOVERNANCE & COMPLIANCE LIBRARY has been developed by IAB Services that will help you to cover key issues of governance and compliance in the NSW public sector. For more information please click here.

  • SUPER DEPT AMALGAMATIONS present issues for every entity across the NSW public sector. Managing the change process must occur at every level, to maintain service levels, governance, control and morale. Impacts on HR and ICT systems, information management and enterprise knowledge must be particularly well managed.  We have developed services to support you during the preparation, merger, and post-amalgamation phases. For more information click here

  • NEW AUDIT GUIDELINES – have been issued by NSW Treasury for the operation of internal audit and Audit Committees in the NSW Public Sector. IAB is running Discussion Forums for clients and interested parties on the implications of these for Audit Committees. Please contact us if you are interested in attending. The Guidelines are available at: www.treasury.nsw.gov.au/Internal_Audit_and_Risk_Management

  • TEST YOUR BCP – Testing Business Continuity Plans is often a rainy-day job that gets left too late, and then when you need it most, it may not work as well as you had expected. We are able to assist you with these matters.

  • CORRUPTION ALERT – Professional journals and the mass media are already reporting a sharp rise in fraud throughout the community and business sector. Now would be a prudent time to refresh your risk assessment, and to undertake one of our Corruption Resistance Health Checks. Our proprietary methodology is specifically designed to address public sector requirements and expectations. Being proactive now may save you the drama of having to investigate corruption later on, which is very costly and disruptive.

  • IT SECURITY ALERT – Agencies need to ensure that they regularly penetration test their firewalls. However, in addition, they need to safeguard against “application hacks”. Recent high profile cases of this more sophisticated form of cyber attack have shown that NSW public sector sites are a target. We have expertise in all aspects of IT security and can test these aspects for you. We can also advise you on IT strategy and IT governance.
